Allie and Chica
I'm going to come right out and say it: I never shop in stores. Everything I buy, I buy online.
With that being said, Allie and Chica is definitely an exception.
This cute boutique is located at 3111 Commodore Plaza in Coconut Grove, FL. Not only is the store charming, but the story behind it represents a hard-working woman who made her dreams into a reality.
Allie and Chica has been open since December 2013. It is named after the owner, Danielle Poveda’s two dogs, Allie and Chica. Danielle opened the store in Coconut Grove with the neighborhood’s personality in mind.
Coconut grove is home to families who love brunch, small boutiques, bike-riding paths, and local restaurants, making it the ideal location for Allie and Chica. Although they have a shoptique website that makes it possible for customers to shop online, they have outstanding in-store customer service. Prior to Allie and Chica, Danielle sold jewelry every Sunday at Mary Brickell Village for five years.
The handbags at Allie and Chica are GORG. These statement pieces have always been their best-sellers and they have had the same vendors for six years. Most of the handbags are reversible and made with vegan leather as to abstain from animal cruelty. Not only is vegan leather beneficial to animals but beneficial to the customers as well because the leather is much more durable.
The boutiques handbags range from small clutches to tote bags that are study enough to sustain books, laptops, or items for the weekend. They also have a handbag club! When you buy ten handbags, you receive your eleventh one for free!
In terms of the clothing, they carry anything from basic tee's, dresses, and jeans for any occasion. Their prices are fair and the products are of high quality and definetlay eye-catchers. The brands in the store are also sold at Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's and even Macy's.
Now for my favorite part and probably every girls too, all of their jewelry is either sterling silver or gold plated. Some of the jewelry comes from charity brands such as Half-United and The Giving Keys. I have to say, the jewelry in this store was stunning and if I could've, I would have bought ALL OF IT. Their jewelry presentation was on point and their pieces were without a doubt eye-catching. In addition to their extensive jewelry options, they are also one of the only boutiques in Miami who sell the Quay sunglasses. These sunglasses have been seen on some of the worlds top celebrities including Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner. The sunglasses are so worth it and range from $50 to $70.
Something that sets Allie and Chica above the rest of the Grove boutiques is its involvement with the community. Half-United, one of the jewelry brands that they care, feeds a child in need a week's worth of meals with every product that you purchase. They have programs in countries such as the United States, Haiti, Cambodia, and Fiji. The Giving Keys, another one of their charity brands, employs people trying to transition out of Homelessness. Their products consist mostly of necklaces and bracelets with a key as a pendant that has a word such as “Love," “Brave,” “Faith,” or “Courage” engraved in it. The original purpose of it is to purchase a key that has a meaningful word engraved in it and wear it until you find someone that needs the word more than you. Once you find that person, you are supposed to pass on the key to them, and so on.
Finally, Spiritual Gangster supports various charities such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Feeding America, The Cambodian Children’s Fund, and the Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Children’s First Academy, and more. Their yoga-inspired clothing is often sold at other stores for a marked-up price, while A&C sells them for their suggested retail price.
